Karine Pierson

Singing & Music

International recording artist and multi-instrumentalist Karine was born in Northern Michigan. Her mother taught sixth grade at a local school, while her father was an experienced jazz musician.

Her stepfather Calvin raised her after her parents divorced when she was 2. When she was a toddler, she learned to play the violin with her Chinese Godmother, Shu. She continued to improve her skills as her parents supported her efforts to study music.

At 13, she was accepted to join the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s International Choir. She studied at the Interlochen Academy of Arts, where she also taught.

She graduated in 2001 from the University of Michigan.

After working as an orchestra conductor in Detroit for five years, she became a full-time musician. She started a band and also sang at various events. www.thelofteez.com
